"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). How many times do we hear that verse? We hear it many time, but... do we ever pay attention to it? The Lord is telling us that we have the power to heal our land if only we are willing to humble ourselves and pray. Jesus told the parable of the "persistent widow" in Luke 18 to show us how much we should pray. According to this parable we should pray consistently. So if we pray consistently then we should see our land changed.
Does that not make you wonder how many true believer in Jesus Christ there are?
I challenge you to consider your ways!!!
I'll take that challenge! Btw, I like the name! ;)

ReplyDeletePrayer and humility make an excellent start.
ReplyDeleteHumility. If you examine the scriptures you'll find that God seems to be rather impressed or moved by the humility of man as can be seen throughout the Psalms (Psalm 18:27, 25:9, etc) and even in the stories not just of good king Josiah but also of Rehoboam (2 Chronicles 12:12) and the wicked Ahab (1 Kings 21:29).
Prayer. The power of prayer is misunderestimated. We are to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:17;NIV).

I would not say that we can ever impress God. So saying that God would be moved by mans humility would make more sense.
ReplyDeleteI do not know that I would say prayer is a good start, from what I have read of what Jesus taught prayer is the most important thing we can do because through prayer the Lord teaches us and guides us in what He would have for our lives. Getting it from a preacher or some good speaker is not what God desires, He wants us to have a relationship with Him and through that relationship learn and do the things He wants us to learn and do.
Thanks for the post William
Oh, I agree!!! Prayer is so important!!! It is so wonderful to know that God is always with you. When we feel alone in this sinful world it is so good to remember that He is always with us. We can always talk to Him! It has really helped me. It makes me think of the poem "Footprints in the Sand" poem. I always loved it. When we feel broken and alone, and see only one pair of footprints, it is God carrying us, not our own footprints! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I love that poem.
